A speculative proposal conducted with the support of prof. Martin Boesch at the Accademia di Mendrisio investigated the possibility of turning a former cement factory nestled within the milanese periphery into a datacenter connected to a research lab and a greenhouse.

Datacenters are generally depicted as abstract post-human spaces, resulting in a disappearance from the public opinion’s perception of the workers that enable these enterprises.

Conducted with the support of Bernhard Böhm, and Joni Kaçani at ETH Zurich, this research investigates the physical dimension of these facilities and foregrounds their role as a workplace, by researching the spaces and places of the “datacenter people”.
